The Orange Lodge, on learning this, held a meeting and passed a resolution that the Lodge should not parade or take part in the procession, and notices were immediately published calling on Orangemen to desist from taking part in the parade. The Mayor, on the advertising becoming known, issued a proclamation requesting all peaceably inclined citizens to desist from participating in the procession, as the advertisement re the same was not authorised by any community. Great excitement exists about the matter, which is evidently a hoax.
