Two first offenders were fined ss; a second offender, 10e ; and two old offep.dere, 20e. _ Bbbaoh op Poisons Act.— Maria Palmer was charged with a breach of the Prisons Act by obstructing a warder in the execution of his duty. The constable who arrested the ■woman stated she was given into his custody last Wednesday by Warder Vincent for interfering with him and abusing him while in charge of a gang of prisoners, who he was conducting from Aldington to the Hospital. She was further guilty of breaking Government property while in gaol to the value of 245. Warder Hill corroborated the evidence of the last witness, and the prisoner was fined 20s for being drunk and disorderly, and ordered to pay the cost of the damage she had done in gaol. The other case would not be proceeded with. Laecbkt. —Ellen Stokes was charged with stealing a gold eye glass and watch chain, value £lO, the property of Annie Fairhurst. On the application of Inspector Hickson, the prisoner was remanded until Friday, January 9th, bail being allowed, the accused’s husband in the sum of £SO and two sureties of £25 each.
