Miils close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to necessary alterations) as under : WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 31. For Australian Colonies, per express traiii to Port Chalmers, to connect with s.s. Tararua, at 7.30 a.m. For Otngo, per 'Wakatipn, at 7.20 a.m.; guard's van, 9 a.m. train. For Northern ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies (via Sydney), per Albion, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.in.; guard's van, 2.40 p m. train. For Kaikoura and Northern ports, per Jane Donglas, at 3 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.15 p.m.; guard's van, 4 p.m. train. SATURDAY, JANUARY 3. For the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, Contineun if Europe and America, Mediterranean Ports, \Y'e*t ludies, China, Japan, Sandwich Islands, New South Wales, Queensland, Northern ports of New Zealand, tec, per Penguin, as follows : Ordinary loiters, at 5 p.m. Ijate fee letters, at 5.45 p.m. Books and newspapers, at 4 p.in. Registered letters, at 3 p.in. Money orders, at 3 p.ni. Guard's van, 6 30 p.m. special train. This mail will be due in Loudon on February 17th, 1880. Tho_ next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi, will be closed at Christehurch ou January luth, and will be due in London ou March 4th. Thursday, January Ist (New Year's Day) being a Post Office holiday, all branches of the dopartmont will be dosed on that day.
