LEITHFIELD ANNUAL SPORTS.
The above sports were held in the Church paddock, on Friday, December 26th, and as the day was -very fino a large cumber of visitors attended. The programme and winners are as follow;—•

Gibbs, 2 ; A. McLean, 3. This rosu.ted in a rather easy victory for Lambert, who started from scratch, having conceded fifty yards. Married Women's Baco, 200 yards—Mrs Cook I ; Mrs Oliver, 2. This event concluded the day's programme, which was tho.-O'jghly enjoyed by all the spectator?. In tho evening there was a concert and danors Hold at the Leithfiold Publio Library, in aid of the funds for the recent addition to ths ball. The committee were thoroughly satisfied with tho proceeds, the hall being perfectly crowded. The first part of the concert commenced with an instrumental, quartette—W. Hunter (violin), W. J. Harbison (violin). J"°. Wilson (piccolo); E. Sogers, guitar, " Haste to tho wedding" ;
E. °Eogers, Bong, " Eoses underneath the snow " j F. W. Franks, comic song, " House full of ailments " ; W. J. Harbison, piccolo solo ; recitation by Mr Jno. Wilson, "The wry mouth." This kept 'he house in a perfect roar of laughter and was loudly encored, and responded to by Mr McKay, " Mother kissed me in my dreams." This concluded tho first put of the concert. The president, Mr Smellie, then introduced tho "Seftonand Leiihfield Amalgamated Black Birds," who opined their part with a set of negro quadrilles by band. The songs were very good. The lecil conundrums were loudly applauded by tho audience, and tho corxer men were very good in every respect, Mr Franks as " Banes " and Mr E. Simpson as "Tambo." At. the conclusion of the Darkies' performance the president thanked the audienco for their support, also the Negro Troupe for their amusing entertainment. The room was then cleared, and dancing kept up till morninjr.
