The great success which has for many years attended the operations of the numerous Accident Insurance Companies in Great Britain and Australia, and the inquiries which are daily made in this colony for this description of provision, are sufficient proofs that a colonial institution established on a solid basis which csuld meet these requirements would prove alike provitable to its shareholders and beneficial to the community. The object of this company will be to grant assurances against death from accidents of all descriptions, with or without a weekly allowance during total disability. In forming this company rivalry or antagonism to existing interests has no place, there being no Accident Insurance Company in New Zealand, and the provisional directory firmly believe a large aud profitable business will be obtained in all parts of the colony.
In order to secure the warm interests of as many of the colonists as possible, it has been determined to allocate the shares amongst the various provinces on the basis of population, and by making the calls small in amount to place it within the power of most persons to identify themselves with this purely colonial undertaking, and by the assistance of known active agents in every town and country distriot the ramifications of the company will be spread like a network throughout the whole colony, and thus brought to the door of everyone in it. Allocation of shares will be made in proportion to the population of the various provincial districts, thus:—Auckland, 22,520 shares; Otago, 28,500 Bhares ; Canterbury, 19.700 shares ; Wellington, 9660 shares ; Nelson, 7560 shares ; Westland, 4780 shares ; Hawke's Bsy, 3090 shares ; Marlborough, 2060 shares ; Taranaki, 1830 share 3. Total, 100,000 shares. Negotiations of a very advantageous character have been completed with the New Zealand Insurance Company, whereby wo are empowered to utilize the branch management, agouey, staff, and officers of that company, in New Zealand and the Australian colonieß. This accession must be considered as an element of great security, and this company in its early career will be saved much time, trouble, and expeese. With this complete organisation now existing to conduct its business, it is confidently anticipated that the community will be impelled in their own interest to yield to the New Zealand Accident Insurance Company their confidence and support.
