MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, Dkckmukb 30. [Before G L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.I Dbtjkk: and Disobdeblt. — Three first offenders were fined 5s each. BIOT ahd Assault.—John Flaherty was brought up to answer a charge of riot and assault. Mr Neck appeared on his behalf. This case was remanded, to be heard with the -Others on Friday, January 2nd. Debating a Distpbanobj.—Thomas Hunter was charged with creating a disturbance in the Wheatsheaf Hotel, and assaulting the landlord. George Hutchins, the licensee of the hotel, said on his return home the preTious day, he found the defendant on the premises. He was not sober, and made use of bad language, eventually striking him. He asked him to leave the house, but he refused. A fine of 10s was inflicted on the defendant for creating the disturbance, and 20s for the assault.
