Mails close at the Cliief Post Office Car'the Collowing 1 places (subject to necessary alterations) as under MONDAY, DECEMBER 29. For Northern ports, per Waitaki, at 1.5© p.m. ; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; gnard's van, 2.40 p.m. train, _ TUESDAY. DECEMBER 30. For Otago, per Tararua, at 1.50 p,m. ; late fee letters. 2.10 p.m. ; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 31. For Australian Colonies, per express train to Port Chalmers, to connect with s.s. Tararua, at 7.30 a.m. , _ For Northern ports and Australian Colonies (via Sydney), per Albion. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed, at Christchurch on January 3rd, at 5 p.m., and will be duo in London on February 17th, 1880. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi, will bo closed at Christchurch on January IGth, and will be due in London on March 4th. Thursday. January Ist (New Year's Day) being a Post Office holiday, all branches 9f the department will be closed on that day.
