Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (anbjoct to necessary alterations) as under : SATURDAY, DECEMBER 26. For Northern Ports, per Hawea. TUESDAY, DECEMBER 30. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Tararna. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will bo closed at Christchurch on January 3rd, at 5 p.m., and will bo due in London on February 17th, 1880. The next mail for the. United Kingdom, via Brindisi, will be closed at Christchurch on January loth, and will be duo in London on March 4th. Notice Thursday, December 35th, being a Post OlCoo holiday, all branches of the department will be cio'sed on that day.
