POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following 1 places (subject to necessary alterations) as under;— WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER Si. For Northern Ports, per Eotomahana, at 1.50 p.m. ; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; guard's |van, 2.-10 p.m. train. For Kaikoura, per Jane Douglas, at 3 p.m. ; late fee letters, 3.15 p.m. ; guard's ran, 4 p.m. train. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 25. For Australian Colonies, per express train to the Bluff (to connect with s.s. Arawata) at 7.30 a.m. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on January 3rd, at 5 p.m., and will be duo in London on February 17th, 1880. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi, will be closed at Christchurch on January 16th, and will be due in London on March 4th. Notice Thursday, December 25th, being a Post Office holday, all brruches of the department will be closed on that day. Mails nsn illy closed on Thursday will be despatched on Friday, December 2Gth.
