POST OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to necessary alterations) as under:— THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton (for correspondence addressed per either of these routes only), Continent of Europe, India, Africa, Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, andOtngo, &c, per express train to the Blnif (to connect with s.s. Rotorna), as follows: — Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m. Books and newspapers, at 6 a.m. Registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Money orders, at i .J.m. on Wednesday. Late fee letters may be posted in the Post Office van attached to the express train on the 18th instant. The mail via Brindisi will be due in London on February 9th, and the mail-via Southampton on February 16th, 1880. For Northern ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies (via Sydney), per Ringarooma, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, 2.10 p.m.; guard's van, 2.40 p.m. train. For Otago, per Taiaroa, at 11.15 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.25 a.m.; guard's van, 12.10 p..in. train. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on January 3rd, and will be due in London on February 17th, 18S0. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
