[IIEUTEU’s TELEGRAMS.] LONDON, December 11. The New Zealand Loan. The New Zealand loan has completely succeeded. Tenders were opened to-day. Nearly three times the amount required was subscribed. CALCUTTA, December 12. Afghan Affairs—Severe Fighting. Notwithstanding the complete measures taken by General Roberts to prevent the same, an outbreak of hostility by the tribes, followed by' a genera Cabul, has taken place. 10,000 Afghans, commanded by Mahomed Khan, attacked a force of British cavalry and artillery going to join Macpherson’s Brigade, which was ordered to punish the tribes. The British made a desperate defence but wore compelled to spike four guns which they afterwards recovered from the enemy. The latest nows states that fighting continues. The British loss is unknown. The Afghans have suffered heavy loss.
