MAMMOTH MINSTRELS.
The Minstrels made another change in their programme at the Theatre Royal on Saturday night. There was •the usual amount of variety in the first part, the most successful of the ballads being “ The old green lane,” by Mr T. Campbell, and “Daisy Boll,” by Mr Beaumont Read. The latter was a peculiar catching composition and seemed to hit the taste of the audience completely, the singer being encored. Ben Brown was irresistibly funny in the comic song, “ I want to get married so'bad,” and Mr Bent, who is a host in himself, was the foremost figure in a graphic buffo sketch, entitled, “The French Conductor.” Ben Brown, as the “ big druminist,” was also immensely diverting. Oheovers and Kennedy were as usual'a feature in their clever specialities, the “ Mulcahy Twins,” and “Old Folks and Young Folks.” Brown and Newland were inimitable in their scene “ Troublesome Times with the Banjo,” especially Mr Brown with the little instrument. Mr T. Campbell next sang “ Homeward Bound,” in his best style. A sketch entitled “A First-class Lunatic” offered Messrs Bent, Campbell, and Fredericks an opportunity of displaying their eccentricities, and after another ballad had been sung by Mr Beaumont Bead a capital entertainment was brought to a close with a merry farce, “Put up your Thumb,” in which Mr Bent kept the audience in roars of laughter, assisted by other members of the -company. The same programme will be repeated to-night.
