THE PRIMATE’S GOLDEN WEDDING.
Tho fiflieth anniversary of the wedding of the Primate and Mrs Harper was celebrated yesterday. The ceremonies commenced with service in the College chapel, at which members of the family only were present, including a large number of graud-ohildren. In anticipation of the event, a number of ladies had arranged a presentation to Mrs Harper, commemorative of tho day. This took tho shape of a gold lei service, with gilt-edgod china cups. The gift was accompanied by an inscription, set in a gilt frame, denoting that tho articles were a present from tho ladies whose names were appended. Tho presentation was made on behalf of the ladies of Canterbury by Mr Johnston, and took place at Bishopscourt in tho afternoon. During the afternoon a very large number of ladies and gentlemen paid their respects to the Primal o and Mrs Harper, and offered their congratulations on the event which was that day celebrated.
