POST OFFICE NOTICES.

Mails close at tho Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to necessary alterations) as under : FRIDAY. DECEMBER 12. For Northern Ports of New Zealand and Australian Colonies, per Wakatipn, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters. 2.10 p.ra.; guard’s van, 2.40 p.m. train. SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13. For Otago, per Wanaka. For Northern Ports, per Hawea. THURSDAY. DECEMBER 18. For tho United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, via Brindisi and Southampton (for correspondence addressed por either of these routes only), India, China, Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, and Otago, Ac.,per express train, (to connect with s.s. Rotorua), as follows : Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m. Books and newspapers, at 6 a.m. Registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Money orders, at 4 j m. on Wednesday. Late fee letters may ho posted in tho Post Office van attached to the express train on the 18th instant. Tho mail via Brindisi will be due in London on February 9th, and tho mail via Southampton on February 16th, 1880. The next mail for the United Kingdom, via San Francisco, will be closed at Christchurch on January 3rd, and will bo duo in London on February 17th, 1830. SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
