GOOD TEMPLAR Y. The second session of the Grand Lodge, from three o’clock to half-past five o’clock yesterday, was occupied in considering in detail the Grand W.O. Templar’s report. Many items were deferred until the items of a like nature on the business sheet should come up for consideration. After alluding generally to the work of the past year, and thanking the officers and deputies for the assistance they had given, the rulings given by the G.W.C.T. during the year were submitted, and, after some discussion, approved. The report cf the Grand Superintendent Juvenile Temples was read and adopted. The third session opened at seven o’clock, when the Grand Lodge Degree was conferred on the following representatives ; —Bro. Rev. J. Buttle, Olutha; Bro. J. Shannon, Mount Ida; Bro. F, G. Odell, Dunediu; and on the following members who were duly accredited : —Sister Brady, Dauntless Lodge; Bros. J. Owen, A. McWilliams, H. Webb, and Sister J. Williams, Sea Shell Lodge; Bros. R, M, Griffiths, G. Jenkins, J. Loader, Rainbow Lodge j Bro. W. Wallace, Pride of Sydenham Lodge ; and Sister Anne E. Webber, Southern Cross Lodge. One of the rulings of the Grand W.O. Templar, which had been confirmed in the afternoon session, was reconsidered and altered. The consideration of the secretary's report was the next business It showed that 23 now lodges had been instituted during the year, while 24 have ceased working, leaving the number now in existence at 155, containing an average membership of 53. There is a slight decrease in the membership amounting to 323, the total number now being 5871 brothers and 1783 sisters, being a total of 7653. Nine degree temples are in operation, and there are 2175 brothers and 683 sisters who are third degree members. Special sessions of the Grand Lodge have been held during the year at Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill, Queenstown, Arrowtown, Oamaru and Timaru. These sessions were a great success, and it was a recommendation to the incoming executive to hold similar sessions at Wanganui, Napier, the West Coast, and Ih. t Otago goldfields.
