French PoliticsThe Minister of Foreign Affairs having challenged a vote of want of confidence on tho homo policy, the Chamber of Deputies passed a vote of confidence by a large majority. December 5. Tho Minister of Finance has proposed new taxes to tho extent of two millions sterling, in consequence of a deficiency. ST. PETERSBURG, December 4. The Attempt on the Life of the Czar Further particulars of tho attempted massacre show that the Emperor escaped solely because tho order for tho departure of tho trains convoying tho Emperor and baggage respectively was reserved, otherwise the explosion would certainly have been fatal. It is ascertained that the explosive was fired from a house in tho vicinity of the lino taken by the Emperor. Tho criminals escaped undetected. Tho matter has caused a profound sensation. Two persons have been arrested at Moscow on suspicion of being connected with the recent attempt made on the Czar’s life. Several words previously omitted in transmission show that tho railroad to Moscow had been tunnelled, and tho explosion fired as the train passed over. December G. Tho Emperor arrived hero to-day. DUBLIN, December 4. The trial of persons recently arrested commences on tho 11th inst. “ARGUS ” SPECIAL. LONDON, December 5. The New Zealand Loan. The “ Times ” Money Article speaking of the Now Zealand loan, questions the progress of tho colony being forwarded so exclusively on borrowed money.
