AQUATICS.

The Junior Four-oared Race, for a prize value £6, in connection with the Union Rowing Club, was rowed for on Saturday afternoon. A large number of boating men were in attendance. The threatening appearance of the weather, and an occasional shower, no doubt prevented other spectators from attending. Mr 8. O. Kesteven acted as starter, and succeded in getting the boats away on even terms. The following are the heats:— FIRST HEAT. Thetis —North bank. P. Monlo (stroke), F. Fuller, J. Gilraour, G. Wright, Woledge (cox.) 1 Electric —South bank. F. D. Kesteven (stroke), H. H. Parsons, H. Duncan, J. Thomson, Dunnage (cox.) ... 2 'The Electric led until reaching Pratt’s, here the Thetis, having the advantage of the turn in the river, obtained a length’s lead, and being a more evenly matched crew than the Electric, drew away and won by about two lengths. SECOND HEAT. Electric—South bank. F. Bowloy (stroke), J. R. Johnston, W. Cudflon, J. Shand, Dunnage (cox.) 1 Thetis—North bank. W. M. Joynt (stroke), F. A. Button, J. Shaokleton, R. Mounttort, Woledge (cox.) 2 The Electric led from the start, and despite Joynt’s plucky endeavors, won by about three lengths, PINAL HEAT. Thetis—North bank. P. Moule (stroke), P. Fuller, J. Qilmour, G. Wright, Woledge (cox.) 1 Electric—South bank. P. Rowley (stroke), J. R. Johnston, W. Cnddon, J. Shand, Dunnage (cox.) ... 2 At the starter’s signal the Electric took the lead, which she maintained to Pratt’s corner. Here the Thetis drew up and passed her, winning by about two and a half lengths.
