THE ENGLEFIELD GALOP.
We have to acknowledge the receipt of a new galop called " The Englefield Galop," composed by Mr Siegmund Schwartz, and dedicated by permission to Mrs E. C. J. Stevens of Englefield. The galop is a brilliant production, and does great credit to our enterprising fellow townsman. It is published by Messrs Milner and Thompson, and the manner in which it is got up reflects considerable c-edit on the powers of that firm. The composition opens in the key of Q-, continuing in that key in the first and second parts and changing a trio in C. The third part varies considerably as regards its theme from the ideas expressed in the first and second. The time is so well marked that there is no danger of its lapsing in the manner which is found to be so disagreeable for dancers in many productions. After the O major has been worked out the O minor is taken up, and a return is made to the C major, in which key it concludes, although the de earpo is, of course, in the original key of G-. The conclusion is well planned, and brings the piece to a worthy finish. Mr Schwartz has in band two polkas, a schottishe andfother music which he proposes issuing shortly. The Englefield galop is we understand to be forwarded to some of the largest publishers in London and Paris, as well as to publishers in Australia. The galop in question has already an extensive sale, and appears to be a general favorite.
