ROAD BOARDS.

AVON. The Board met on Monday, December Ist. Present—The Chairman, Messrs Philpott and Munro. The surveyor's report was read and considered. The clerk was instructed to write to Mr Johns informing him that the Board had resolved to exchange the road by Mr Watt's land for a road of equal width to the siding at Belfast. The clerk was instructed to write to thoae persons in St. Alban's road who drained into the ditch, and inform them that it is tbe Board's intention to fill in the ditches and form a footpath on the south side. Resolved that Mr Smith's offer of land for road near White's bridge be accepted at the rato of £2O per aero, and the surveyor was instructed to lay the same off and have tbe fence moved. The surveyor was instructed to invite tenders for Bupply of sbinglo for Papanui, New Brighton, and North Avon road. Tho surveyor was instructed to inspect and report upon tho upper portion of the Canal Reserve. Letter was received from the Riccarton Road Board, stating their willingness to defray half the cost of forming the Boundary road. The surveyor was instructed to see tho surveyor of tbe Riccarton Board, and invito tenders for the work. The surveyor reported that he had waited upon most of tboße signing the roqui'ition for watering the Papanui road, but had in no case received any subscriptions towards same. Letter was received from Mr Patterson relative to formation of roads in Money's paddock. The clerk was instructed to reply to the letter. Tho clerk was instructed to write to tho railway authorities relative to tbe crossing at the Sawyers' Arms road. Resolved—" That in consequence of numerous complaints, tbe foreman be instructed to pound any animals found straying on the roads." A-counls to tbe amount of £55 9s 3d wore pnsjed and ordered to bo paid. The Board then adjourned.
