Mails close at tho Chief Post Offioo for tho following places (subject to necessary alterations) as under: — FRIDAY, DECEMBER 5. For Akaroa, per Waitaki, at 11.18 p.in.; late fee letters, 11.25 p.m. ; guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. SATURDAY, DECEMBER C. I'or tho United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, China, Japan (via Sau Francisco), Sandwich Islands, and Northern Ports of New Zealand, per Penguin, cS follows: Ordinary letters, at 5 p.m. Lato fee letters, at 5,45 p.m. Books and newspapers, at 4 p.m. Registered letters, at 4 p.m. Money orders, at 3.30 p.m. Guard’s van, 6.30 p.m. (specialtrain). This mail is due in Loudon on tho 20th January, 1880. MONDAY’, DECEMBERS. For Otago and Australian Colonies, per Hawea (to connect at Port Chalmers with’ tho s.s. Albion). The next mail for United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton (for letters specially addressed per either of these routes only), will bo closed at Christchurch on December 17th. The mail via Brindisi will bo duo in London on February 9th, and the mail via Southampton on February IGth, 1880. Notice.— The name of tho Post office hitherto called Lovat has been changed to Aylesbury, SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
