POST OFFICE NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to necessary alterations) as under : THURSDAY, DECEMBER 4. For Australian Colonies, per Express train to Port Chalmers (to connect with s.s. Rotomahana), at 7.30 a.m. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, and Aus tralian Colonies, per Tarorua, at 3.15 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.25 p.m. ; guard's van, 4 p.m. train. For Kaikoara, per Jane Douglas, at 3.15 p.m.; late fee letters, 3.25 p.m.; guard's van, 4 p.m. train. The next mail for the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, China, Japan (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, &c., per Penguin, will be closed at Christchurch on Saturday, December 6th, as follows : Ordinary letters, at 5 p.m. Late fee letters, at 6.45 p.m. Books and newspapers, at 4 p.m. Registered letters, at 4 p.m. Money orders, at 3.30 p.m. Guard's van, 6.30 p.m. (special train). This mail is due in London on the 20th January, 1880. The next mail for United Kingdom, via Brindisi and Southampton (for letters specially addressed per either of these routes only), will be closed at Christchurch on December 17th. The mail via Brindisi will be due in London on February 9th, and the mail via Southampton on February 16 th» 1880.
