CEICKET.

MUFF CRICKET CLUB t. CITY COUNCIL. This match -was played to-day on the U.O.C. ground, and was the source of great interest. Owing to the municipal forces being somewhat tardy in their appearance on the the tented field, the Muffs, with that generosity which is so characteristic of them, lent them one of their don bats. The City Councillors went to the wickets first, and, despite the scientific trundling of the Muffs, were not disposed of until they had run up the respectable score of 87. An adjournment for lunch followed, and Mr B. Cookson, who had provided most liberally, found that his stock was none too large, so general was the appreciation of his powers as a caterer. After lunch, the Muffs went in, the brothers Hale making the pace merry, one having scored 21 before being disposed of, and the other 14 at the time of our report leaving. The following wero the scores up to the time of our report leaving the ground : CITT COUNCIL. Ist Innings. Murray 2 Judge 2 King, W.
