LODGE OF PROGRESS.

The annual installation of W.M. and officers of the Lodge of Progress, E.C., No. 1651, was held in the Freemasons' Hull, Southbridge, on Mondoy, the 24th instant. The ceremony was performed by D.D.G.M. Bro. H. Thomson 1 assisted by P.M.'s Bros. E. O. Webb (Lodge of Progress), Pavitt (St. Augustine Lodge), and Hardy (Somerset lodge, Ashburton), in the presence of thirty-six members of the Home lodge and visiting brethren. Several letters were read apologising for absence. The master of the lodge for the past year, Bro. R. Webster, having been almost unanimously reelected, was formally reinstated. The following are the office bearers for the ensuing year. Bros. J. Bradahaw, S.W. ; S. Forsyth, J.W.; W. Graham, treasurer ; F. W. Pattle, secretary; O. Willis, S.D.; Charles Bourn, J.D. ; B. Hampton, 1.G.; G. Webster, tyler; and John Woodbury, maater of ceremonies. After the business of the lodge had been concluded, an adjournment was made to Bro. D. Sutherland's Southbridge Hotel, where a banquet had been provided for the members of the lodge and their visitors. The chair was occupied by W.M. Bro. Webster, supported by D.D.G.M. Bro. Thomson and several Past Masters. After ample justice had been done to the good things provided, and the numerous loyal and Masonic toasts had been disposed of, Bro. H. Thomson, on behalf of the members of the lodge, presented Bro. F. W. Pattle, who has performed the duties of secretary during the past year, with a very handsome timepioco bearing the following inscription—" Presented to Bro. F. W. Pattle for services rendered as secretary, Lodge of Progress, No. 1651." Bro. Thornson, in making the presentation, congratulated the lodge on its financial position, and on the progress made during the past year. Bro. Pattle returned thanks in a few appropriate remarks, and assured the members that his services would always be at the disposal of the lodge and craft. Several other toasts - were proposed and responded to.
