ST. STEPHEN'S CHURCH, ASHBURTON.

A tea meeting and entertainment in aid of the above church took place at the Town Hall, Aahburton, on Wednesday evening. The tea tables, which were provided by Mesdames G. D. Branson, Bruce, Bristow, Campbell, Curtis, Crisp, St. ,&. Douglas, Fooks, Firth, Guinness, Gundry, Jacobson, Jameson, Paige, Purnell, Shury, Trevor, and Winter, Misses Cowper, Compton, Boyle, Guinness, Johns, Winter, and the bachelors, were, it is needless to say, well filled and tastefully arranged. There was a great profusion of flowers everywhere. After the tea the remaining eatables were disposed of by auction by Mr T. Bullock, Mayor of Ashburton, and realised a most satisfactory sum. An entertainment, in which many of the musical amateurs of Ashburton took part, concluded a most successful entertainment, which realised a good sum, and fully answered the purpose for which it was intended.
