When the editors of the Okolona " States " and Lemarß " Sentinel" were introduced the other day, they eack took three steps backward and for some minutes glared upoa each other like fierce Numidian lions, The Okolona bowler was the first to find words, and said : " What ! And is't thou ! Come, then, dastard, Let me have at thee, And by the gods That roost on high Olympus, I'll eat ye up In a holy second \ Ugh! Big Irjun, me ! " The Koyal Bengal Badger of the"Ssnti-' nel," displayed his fangs and rej aiaed with. his native ferocity : " I thank the gods For this opportunity To call thee To thy Teeth, Liar ! Hippograff I Hippopotamus ( Snide I Shyster I Aua baldheaded snipe of the Tftllej t O, come and see me, And I'll mop the ground With your miserable carcass— Thou—thou—thou— Three-ply And double-dyed Horse-thief, And son of a gun I " But the Okflona howler didn't come. A bystander had seized the hsm of his coat-tail between the tips of his thumb and finger and held him securely. So thankful was the lowa man that things turned out as they did, that he went out and breathed a silent prayer to heaven»
