The Wool Sales. The London colonial wool sales opened this morning. The total arrivals are upwards of 90,000 bales. The attendance of both home and foreign buyers is large. Prices show a general advance as compared with previous sales, merino, pure, of 10 per cent.; crossbreds, of from 15 to 20 per cent. Port Phillip and Cape of Good Hope wools preponderate. The first day’s catalogue consisted of 7,000 bales. November 19. There is a preponderance of home over foreign buyers. The competition continues extremely vigorous. The Money Market. Consols are at 98J. Colonial debentures are in active demand. Canadian. The Princess Louise supports a company which has been formed to colonize Manitoba. Turkish Reforms. The Porto has solemnly announced that the reforms promised by the Berlin Treaty will be carried out immediately, both in Europe and Asia, and he pledges that the results will he speedy and brilliant.
British Burmah. Marauders are threatening British Burmah. Irish Affairs. Daly has been arrested at Dublin for sedition. Mr Potter. Mr Potter has been banquetted at New York. ClericalThe Church Union has resolved to resist the suspension of Mr Mackonichie, Wool in America. An agitation has been raised in New York to reduce the wool duty. Throe arrests have boon made for seditious language. LONDON, November 18. The Wool Market. The new series of colonial wool auctions was opened to-day. The quantity catalogued was 7300 bales. The tone of the sale was very active. Australian merinos showed 10 per cent., and crossbreds 15 per cent, advance. The sales close on December 9th. ROME, November 18. The Ministry have resigned.
