KAIAPOI BOROUGH SCHOOL.
The adjourned monthly meeting of the committee was held on Monday evening. Present — Messrs Revell (chairman temj, Parnham, Pashby, Young, and Coup. Letters _ were read—From Akaroa committee, asking information respecting enforcement of the compulsory clauses of the Education Act ; from Board of Education, in reference to artesim well and alterations to the buildings ; from head-master, forwarding return of attendances—on roll 422, average attendance 311 j from chief inspector of schools, forwarding results of examination on September 17th, there being present 341, of which out of 240 presented 235 passed in the respective standards, equal to a per centage of 97. The schools he reported in good order, progress equally satisfactory as proportionate to teaching power employed. The work in hand being mostly in advance of standards passed, the scholars should be well able to pass the higher ones at next annual examination. The improved conduct of the infants’ department, and the Assistance of the mistress in teaching the singing in the girls’ schoolroom, deserved especial commendation. Accounts £6 4s were passed. It was agreed that the entertainment in aid of the prize fund take piece on December sth, The committee then adjourned.
