PRESBYTERY OF CHRISTCHURCH.
The of Ohristchurch met in St. Andrew's ch. ,lron schoolroom, ChrMohureh, on Thursday. l^ th November, and was duly constituted with devotional exercises. Sederant, the Kevs. Elmslie. Messrs Burnett and Eusßb. l were associated to take part in the proceedings. Mr Elmslie, moderator of Bakaia an^
Mount Somers district*, handed in a report of the services to be conducted by Mr Westbrooke to the end of the year, and desired to be relieved of his moderatorship. On the motion of Mr Fraser, Mr Beattie was appointed moderator of Bakaia and Mount Somers districts. Mr Beattie asked if the site at Tinwald could now be conveyed, as they wero prepared to bnild thereon. Mr Fraser replied that the donor was prepared to convey the site if they were to build immediately thereon. Mr Fraser, moderator of Halkett and Kimbarley, reported that the committee had agreed Sto purchase a house for a manse, and that thoy would at once be prepared to settle a minister. On the motion of Mr Elmslie, the report was received as very enoouraging. Mr McGregor, moderator of Sefton, read a minute of 20th September, and desired to be relieved from the moderatorship. Mr Elmslie, convener of Presbytery's deputation, reported the state of the congrega-
tion. On the motion of Mr Fraser, Mr McGregor was relieved from the moderatorship, and Mr Elmslie appointed thereto. Mr Fraser, convener, gave in report of Presbytery's deputation to Kaiapoi, and read Mr Milligan's correspondence. It was resolved that the report be approved, with Mr Monro's explanation engrossed in the minutes, and a copy of the report, &0., laid before the committee of Kaiapoi. Mr Horner, convener on Presbyterial expenses for 1879, read report of assessments, which, on the motion of Mr Fraser, was approved. Mr Hill, convener on church extension, reported that a grant of £SO from the central fund had been made for Mr Kessick's services on the Peninsula. Mr Douglas reported that £BO would be collected on the Peninsula for the same purpose, and more i( possible. It was resolved that Mr Kessiek send through Mr Douglas monthly reports of his work to the church extension committee. Mr Hill, moderator of Sydenham, reported in committee the present prospects of the congregation. The Moderator reminded members of Prosby tery that schedules would be received from clerk of assembly, and it would be their duty to fill them up, and forward them in the beginning of January. Mr Douglas moved—" That steps be taken to form Amberley, Waipara, and Waikari into a charge, and that Mr McGregor be appointed Moderator to visit the district and report at next meeting, which was agreed to. Mr Fraser was requested to look after a site at Waipara. The meeting was olosed with the benediction.
