M'CLEER v. W. TRICKETT FOR £4OO.

Lovers of aquatic sports may look forward to an important sculling match—Henry M’Cleer (an old Sydney puller, but now of Brisbane) against William Trickett, for £2OO aside. The match is to be rowed in outriggers over the usual course on the Parramatta River on Saturday, the 4th of January next. Mr Richard Driver, M.P. (whose numerous friends will be glad tohearthathe is recovering from his recent severe illness) is the stakeholder, and holds the first deposit of £25 aside. M’Cleer’s backers seem to have unbounded confidence in their man, as the challenge that resulted in this match with the champion sculler’s brother was open to everybody, not excepting Edward Trickett, but the latter would not row under £SOO aside. We understand, however, that Mr J. Punch is ready to back Laycock to row the winner.
