ROAD BOARDS.
EYRETON. The monthly meeting of this Board was held on November 3rd. Present—Messrs Coup (chairman), Bradley, Fairweathor, Hopkins, and Hide. Letters were read— From Avon Road Board, stating reasons for prosecuting the contractor for shingling Grigg’s road. From Colonial Secretary, stating the Board’s office had been gazetted a polling place. From Railway Engineer, stating crossing to Mr Burrell’s land would be granted, the Board paying cost of same. From district auditor, stating cost of public pound would bo passed as for a work of public utility. It was resolved to erect a pound on N.E. corner of Board’s iand fronting on Oxford and Ohoka road, under the direction of Messrs Bradley and Hopkins. Mr F, Denton asked for leave to erect an embankment and plant willows along north bank of the river. The chairman reported what had been done in the matter. Mr Driscol asked to have Head’s road formed. Agreed to. On the motion of Mr Hopkins, seconded by Mr Hide, it was decided to rescind the resolution of the Board appropriating a third of £53 15s 6d to the Eyreton cemetery. The clerk was instructed to reply to Mr Chilton that the grant to the Eyreton district could not exceed £7 3s Bd. It was decided to request Mr Threlkeld to remove willows planted in course of Ohoka creek. It was decided to insure the surveyor’s residence for £SOO. It was decided that the inspector of police be informed that 10ft. footpath had been formed in Saeyd’s town. It was decided to invite offers for office of ranger and poundkeeper. Mr Hide proposed, Mr Hopkins seconded—“ That a new bridge be erected on the Two-Ohain road and North Eyre road.” Carried. It was decided Mill road be formed full width from Bwannanoa platform. It was resolved to remove bridge on Ashworth’s road and fill in creok. It was decided to ask Mandeville Board to shingle top portion of Boundary rood, and do what was necessary on Rangiora and Oxford road, from near Gust bridge. Tenders were considered for gravel pits, which were all declined. Culvert on Oust read declined, concrete culverts, Cemetery Gully drain, and-lengthen-ing Sneyd’s embankment. Accounts, £735 6s lOd, were passed.
