PAPANUI WESLEYAN SABBATH SCHOOL.
The anniversary services in connection with this school were held in the Papanui Wesleyan Onapel on last Sabbath, when suitable sermons were preached, |in the morning and evening by Mr Smith, of the Wesleyan Book Depot, and in the afternoon an interesting children’s service was conducted by the Bov. J. S. Smalley. On Tuesday the annual tea meeting took place in the schoolroom, the trays being provided by Mcsdames Keese, Tyson, Swift, Patchett, and the bachelors, which was presided over by Mrs Horaely. After the tea a public meeting was held in the chapel, the chair being taken by Mr Cresswell, when able and interesting speeches were delivered by the Bov. Mr Beck, Messrs Smith, Broughton, and Baker. Suitable hymns were rendered at intervals by the scholars, assisted by the choir, in a manner which reflected credit on their leader, Mr E. Vague, to whose efforts the success of the services is mainly due. A vote of thanks to the ladies who provided tho tea, and to the speakers, was proposed and carried unanimously, and the evening was brought to a close by the Bov. Mr Beok pronouncing tho benediction.
