TRAINING NOTES. A cold, drizzling morning militated against a large attendance on the course. Proceedings •commenced by Atlantic, Oboron, and the Waimea colt being started at the three-quarter mile post and going at half speed to the stand, where the young one was cased off. The other two went a second tinm round, ‘Oberon going strong and well, but being very musical over it, Nutator and Mata, with hoods on, did a steady gallop twice round, the • chesnut appearing to go very short. Grand Duchess and Billingsgate were treated to a fast gallop once round. Romeo, ridden in colours by T. Lyford, and Midge were sent o fast half mile on the plough. I hardly think the former can win the Welcome, Cults and Co. then stripped two of tho Ohokeboro ■ representatives and sent them a really good gallop, Sir Modred going once and Grin twice round, the former pleasing 'mo much, the latter going in a somewhat scrambling fashion. Libeller worked alone, going once round, an example followed by his stable companion Piscatorious, a little later. Eobin Hood, with Clifford up, cantered once on the plough. Tim Whifiler, with tho colors up, was sent the Welcome distance fast, going very strongly and well. I have an idea that this colt will not be far out in tho two-year-old race. Ray next put in an appearance, and Templeton, with a couple of rugs on, was started at Redwood’s corner, being taken once round at a good pace by Maritana, and then picked up by Titania, who accompanied him the second round. The veteran went as strong as a lion, and must have a great say in any race in which ho goes for the money. The Maribyrnong team were late on the oours", and confined themselves to sending Numa and Laertes, stripped, twice round tho plough. Connor was ■steering Mr Robinson’s horse, and with him he does not pull so hard, but I doubt any 6st boy being able to do him justice. Betrayer and Adamant were next stripped, and did a very good gallop of two miles on the plough, both going well, but the Champagne winner took my fancy most. Tho youngsters next had a flutter, Ladv Florence colt, with Fuller up, Revoke colt, Daisy, and the Ada colt (who broke away and went down the road with young Webster), being started as usual at the mile post. They wore galloping when I left. During the morning Bam Haines, with Hibernian, put in an appearance, but did uo work, and as I did not see tho horse stripped I am unable to say anything as to his condition or appearance. It is particularly requested that all those attending the course, whether trainers, jockeys, outsiders, or cabmen, will be good enough to leave their dogs at home.
