WAIMAKARIRI HARBOUR BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board, for dispatch of business, was held at the Eaiapoi Borough Council Chamber on Monday evening. Present—Messrs Wearing (chairman), Moore, Blackwell, Mathews. A letter was read from Mr Whitefoord, chairman of a public meeting of ratepayers, enclosing resolutions passed, in which it was affirmed to be undesirable to merge the powers of the Board in the Council. The receipts for the months were £4O 15s ; accounts, £23 17s 7d, wore passed. An account from Mr R. Woodford, for extras to dredge, £lO 7s, formed the subject of a long discussion, and was subsequently referred to the works committee. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Blackwell, that the Minister of Public Works be informed that in the event of the siding being made from the railway to the river, berth room |oan be found for thirty vessels; also 1 that he bo respectfully requested to authorise the siding'to be at once made, to afford facii litiea for shipping by next grain season, the siding having been promised by a previous government. The Board then adjourned.
