M. Lecoq's next new opera will be a setting of "Bed Biding Hood," the libretto by M; M. Meilbac and Halevy. A convention of delegates of the Fenian brotherhood was opened at Wilkesbarre, Pennsylvania, on the Bth August, and was expected to last for ten days. There were 200 delegates present, and they included the names of Fenian ex-prisoners Edward O'Meaghei Condon, Thomes Francis Bonrke, and others. The business of the convention was understood to be in connection with the reorganisation of the Fenian brotherhood, now practically defunct. An unfortunate mistake is said to have been made in a church near Bhyl (says "Brief"). The clergyman,-who intended to pray for fine weather, offered tip by mistake the fervent petition for rain. The_ mistake was neutralised at the evening service, when the prayer for fine weather was substituted.
