SPORTS COMMITTEE.

The spor'B committee held their uau.il weekly meeting yrsterd.iy afternoon in the City Council Chamber, tho Mayor in the chai*. The Chairman said the matter was open to ro discussion. Mr Hebden moved—" Tnufc the letter be Adopted and signed on behalf of the committee." Mr Hobday seconded the motion. Mr Hnlbert expresied his opinion that the committee had acted rightly at their last meeting by treating Mr Eraser's letter with contempt in allowing it to lay upon the table. Mr Lambert moved, as an amendment—" That Mr Ollivier's reply be sent, if the Rev. O. Eraser insisted on the publication of his ■letter." Mr Lambert withdrew his amendment, and the resolution was pus and carried. Mr Pratt, as chairman of the programme committee, submitted an amended programme. It was resolved— •* That the programme, as amended, be adopted and published as heretofore." Mr Ollivier gave notice that at the next meeting of the committee he would bring forward a resolution—" That a petition be presented to the General Assembly, praying that power be given to the Domain Board to olose a portion of the Domain, for a period not exceeding seven dai a in the whole, in any year, for the purpose of public recreation, and that such Domain Board shall have power to convey any portion of the ground reserved to any society for the time being, for recreative purposes." The meeting then adjourned.
