CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB.
A special general meeting of the members of the Canterbury Jockey Club was held on Saturday at the Commercial Hotel. l?resent Messrs H. P. Lince (chairman), Frankisb, Kembell, Gk P. Williams, Delamain, Qarforth. Birch, Qresson, Reeves, Acland, Stead, Brabazon, Griffith. Messrs A. L. Barker, S.W. Shiel, W. G. and. A. J. Ross were elected members of the club. A letter was read from A. Lyferd asking; that; the disqualification imposed upon him by the Dunedin Club should be removed by the Canterbury Jockey CUb, tho Dunodin one having already dona so. On the motion of Mr Delamain, seconded by Mr Stead, the request was acceded to. Dr. Frankish moved—" That the weight for age scale adopted by the two Australian Jookev Clubs be adopted hero." Mr "Reeves seconded the motion, which waa agreed to. On the motion of Mr Barker, the committee were authorised to draft a new set c? rules, and bring them up for the appr«T«l. 0? % general meeting.
Mr Stead moved—" That subscribers to the race funds be entitled to a ticket of admission to the stand and enclosures for eaoh fire guineas they may subscribe ; such ticket or tickets to be available only during the current racing year ending 30th September, in whioh such subscription it paid." Dr. Prankish seconded the motion, which was agreed to. Dr. Prankish called attention to the desirableness of providing a members' carriage paddock. Mr Stead said that the matter would receive the attention of the committee when the new stand was erected. Mr Stead gave notice that he would move at the next meeting a resolution similar to the one recently passed by the English Jockey Club with reference to jockeys leaving their employers without notice.
