SPORTING.

TRAINING NOTES.

[By Sinead.]

Thursday was a fine morning, but there was not very much work done, some of the teams not putting in an appearance. Templeton, Maritana, Lonehand and Hornby with Ray up were sent about two miles on the grass, the Derby colt pulling off after about a mile and a quarter had been covered, Titauia did a mile and a half by herself at a good pace. Piscatorious and Billingsgate stripped, went twice round the plough steady. Grand Duchess and Libeller did precisely the same work. York and Chancellor cantered slowly with the rugs on. Mata, in company with Sir Modred, started at Redwood’s and cantered steadily to the half mile post, the two then came on at top, tho colt pulling off. Mata was now joined by Fable, who was brought home for the last three-quarters of a mile at a rattling pace. This was the gallop of the morning, Mata going in splendid style. Laertes went once round slow, and Te Whetu and Silverstream in company did a fast mile and a half. Numa was sent twice round the plough, the last time fast. Agent did slow work on the plough. Soukar and Maid of Honor went together once round the plough fast, i the gelding seeming to have a bit the best of it. Daisy and Edward James and the three two-year olds did moderate exercise. Longlands went a very serviceable strong gallop of about three miles. The Yaldhurst team were absent.
