THE AUCKLAND MEMBERS AND THEIR CONSTITUENTS.

[By TEUBasABH.] AUCKLAND, October 27. Both papers to-day defend the right of the four Auckland membera to independent action, und express the conviction that their change of sides was dictated solely hy the belief that the public good would be secured. Some City West electors express angry feelings, and have convened a meeting of electors for to-morrow night, to consider what steps should bo taken relative to Mr Hurst’s defection from the Auckland party. The advertisement is signed by a considerable number of electors. Opinion, however, will probably be divided at the meeting.. Telegrams have been sent to Mr Reader Wood to-day, signed by a number of his constituents and other influential persons, approving of his action. A counter movement is also on foot amongst the Waitemata electors.
