POSTAL AND TELEGRAPHIC RETURNS.

WELLINGTON, October 25. The money order transactions for the quarter ending 30th September last were Total number issued 29,509 for the amount of £104.441; being an increase of £12,681 over the corresponding quarter of last year. 22,859 orders were paid during the past quarter for a total amount of £80,256. The Postal revenue returns show that the total revenue for the third quarter of for 1879 was £32,562, which is £4012 more than the corresponding period of last year. The total amount of postage received from foreign offices was £4200. During the quarter ending September last, 33,666.; telegrams were forwarded in New Zealand, being an increase of 1862 over the corresponding quarter of 1878. The revenue received was £17,700, showing a decrease of £1839. The value of Government telegrams during the present quarter was £7657, showing an increase over the corresponding period of the year 1878 of £1797.
