RIFLE ASSOCIATION.
A day’s prize shooting, arranged in honor of the visit to Canterbury of Mr Kohn, who, during hie residence here was ra enthusiast in the matter of rifle shooting, took place on Monday last at the Cashmere Range. Mr Kohn had presented a very handsome cup for competition amongst those present, the conditions being five shots at 200, 300, 400, and 500 yards. The winner turned up in Sergeant E. P. Hill, who scored 65; Sergeant Buckley being second, and Quarter-Master Sergeant Fox third, with 60 and 57 respectively. A sweepstakes match at 200 and 300 yards, five shots at each, was also got off, which resulted in a tie at 33 points for first place between Sergeants Buckley and Hill, Sergeant-Major Judge coming next with 31. The tie was shot off between the two first-named, and resulted in a victory for Sergeant Buckley, who made a bull’s-eye to Sergeant Hill’s centre. Altogether, a very pleasant day was spent, and Mr Kohn may congratulate himself on having been the causa of a most enjoyable reunion.
