Pbbsentation.—A gathering of the friends of Mr J". The health of Mr Knox having been cordially drunk, the proceedings terminated. New Sheep Dip—Yesterday a number of gentlemen interested in stock attended a trial of Little's chemical fluid, a recently invented composition for sheep dipping. Among those present were Messrs Newton, Mitchell, O'Callaghan, D. Thomas and others who' watched the experiment. The cost of the preparation amounts to about £2 per thousand sheep. About twenty sheep were dipped yesterday, and the experiment proved highly successful, the ticks and lice being immediately killed. The speciality of Little's liquid is that unlike tobacco or any other known specific, the wool appears benefitted by the process. It is claimed for it that —" It only requires to be mixed with cold water, thus doing away with all the trouble and expense of boiling water, and one gallon of this concentrated jet-black fluid, thus mixed, will make 100 gallons of milk-white wash. It is not only non-poisonous, but may be used internally for worms in the throat of lambs ; it will also effectually cure foot-rot and as a specific for scab it has never been known to fail. To tboso who dip in full fleece, this fluid will be found invaluable, for, being of a warm and protecting character, sheep will not catch cold, though dipped in the depth of winter." The illusory effeots in " Faust and Marguerite" ware loudly applauded, as they deserved. The illusions introduced into the other parts of the programme were also very successful. The case was one in which the plaintiff sued for specific performance in the case of the defendant executing to the plaintiff a conveyance of a section in the city of Christchurch which plaintiff alleged waß leased to him by the defendant, with a purchasing clause.
