Among 1 tlio shipping reports of long passages of vessels from home to the colonies recently published, the “ Qncenslander" of a late date announces the arrival at Keppel Bay of the barque Glencoe, after a passage of 141 days from Leith. The s.s. Jane Douglas arrived yesterday from Kaikoura and Wellington, having met with a fresh S.E. wind and heavy sea on the passage. The barque Italy, for Newcastle, and the Clio, for Waitapu, cleared yesterday at the Customs, the latter vessel taking he r departure. ENGLISH SHIPPING. [“European Mail," August 29.] Arrived From Canterbury : Northampton, August 18th ; from Lyttelton: Piako, August 10th, Maraval, August 10th, City of Quebec, August 10th, Arethusa, August 6th; from Timani: Chorlwood, August irth, Margaret Galbraith, August 2Gth ; from Oamnru: William Wilson, August 4th. Sailed—For Canterbury: Euterpe, 1197 tons, August loth; Hurnnui, 1012 tons. August 16th; Lady Jocelyn, 2138 tons, August 23rd. The Euterpe passed Deal August 13th, and the Lady Jocelyn Angust 24th, and was at Plymouth August 27th. Loading—For Canterbury: at Loudon, Hereford, 1410 tons, Angust 19th; Southesk, 1151 tons, August 19th; Waitara, 833 tons, August 9th. At Glasgow : Bemonstrant, 1045 tons, July 30th. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s ship Eangitikei (now out eighty-nine days with Government immigrants) was spoken July 29bh in 40 N, 14 W., ten days out from Plymouth. The Euterpe, on Angust 2nd, was in collision off Gravesend with the s.s. Telford, from Colombo, and received considerable damage. The steamer had her bow damaged. The Euterpe put hack to dock, and took her departure on Angnst 13th for Lyttelton, with 176 passengers in all classes—thirteen saloon, twenty-one second cabin, and 112 steerage. The Hnrunui, which left Loudon for Lyttelton on Angnst 16th, has 260 passengers—twenty-three saloon, twenty-six second cabin, and 211 in steerwill ba seen from the following report of the homeward passage of the ship Arethnsa from here, the vessel met with some unusually severe weather. She sailed from Lyttelton for London on May sth, ■with light and easterly winds to 174 W., light westerly to 155 V/. May 19th, in '4B 30 S., 13 9 W., experienced a very gale from S.W. with a mountainous sea j lost part of topgallant bulwark, completely smashed starboard lifeboat and stove the gig, both on the skids. Thence to Cape Horn, which was passed June 3rd, had strong westerly winds. Jane 4th, 57 S., _63 "W., hard gale southward, with a very high, short sea, filled the decks, carrying away starboard topgallant bulwarks from poop to before mainrigging. Thence to Jane 10th, 43 S., 41 W., strong south-westerly winds, when wind hauled to S.E June 11th, 40 S., 33 W., heavy gale from E.S.E.. with a confused cross sea, chiefly from E.N.E.,. hove to for 16 hours. Thence east by southerly and and westerly winds to 29 S, 33 W, Juno 15th, got S.E. trade. Jnne 20th, 25 S., W. crossed the Equator. Jane 27th, in 28-33 W. lost S.E. trades. June 29, in 4 N., 28 W., got N.E. trades. July 7th, 13 N., 28 W., ; lost them. July 15th, 32 N.. 41 W., had variable light winds thence to 47 N., 16 W. July 31st thenco easterly and north-easterly winds to entrance of Channel. Made the Lizard Angnst 4th, and took pilot midnight, Angnst sth, having had moderate south-westerly winds up Channel. The tonnage loading on the berth at London August 28th, for India, China, and the Cape of Good Hope, amounted to 45,920 tons, and for Australia and New Zealand to 56,425 tons. Loudon, Angust 29th—There is no great change to report in outward and homeward freights to the East, the Australian and New Zealand colonies, from either London or the coal ports, rates, with only slight alterations, remaining as last quoted. The emigrant ship Pericles, belonging to Messrs Thompson and Co., of London, which grounded on the Manacles Rocks off Falmouth on Angnst Ist, and was compelled to put back to Plymouth in consequence of making so much water, came out of dry dock on Angnst 2Gth, after making good delects. Next day the emigrants, numbering 491, reemhorked on board the vessel. There are 230 English, .119 Scotch, and 142 Irish for Sydney. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Port Chalmers, October 16.
