BOARD OF HEALTH.
A meeting of this Board was held yesterday, Mr Harman in the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman said there was no particular business before the meeting, but there was one matter which should be brought forward. He regretted to have to record the death of their health officer, Dr. Powell, and felt that all would agree with him in expressing the valuable services rendered to the Board by the deceased gentleman, and the loss sustained by the Board in his death. Ho would suggest the advisability now of taking steps to appoint another officer. It was resolved that applications should be invited for the position of health officer to the Board, and that in the meantime jDr. Nodwill bo requested to act, the matter being left with the chairman to settle. On the motion of Mr Tanored it was resolved—“ That the Board desires to express their regret at the loss they, as well as the whole community, have sustained by the death of their late medical officer, Dr. Powell.” Accounts to the amount of £6O were passed for payment, and the Board then adjourned.’
