It has beet, brought under the notice of the Proprietor of this Journal, that by opening that portion of its Advertising Space known as the “WANTED” Column to advertisers at a low price, it may be made the medium of a class of business at present transacted in more inconvenient ways, and supply a want long felt. People wanting servants, people wanting employment, people who have lost or who have found things, are often deterred from making heir wants known through the columns of the Public Press by the price charged, which is considered high when compared with the value of the purpose sought to be achieved. As the Globe is now pre-eminently the most popular evening journal in Canterbury, enjoying, as it does, a large circulation amongst the class by whom such a concession would be regarded as a boon, it has been thought desirable that it should be made the medium at once. After this date, therefore, advertisements in the “Wanted” Column of the Globe, when they do not exceed Twenty-Four Wobds will be inserted for ONE SHILLINGeaoh INSERTION] conditionally upon payment accompanying the Manuscript.
