EESIGNATION OP SIR GEORGE GREY. [FiOM A SPECIAL OOBBESPONDBNT.] WELLINGTON, October 6. Sir G. Grey has resigned without advising the Q-overnor who to Bend for. The "New Zealander" admits that the party ia now a house divided against itself, and a multitude of councillors in whom there is no wisdom. The Opposition hare a dirner at the Occidental Hotel to-night. [Peb Fbesb Agency/.] It is now stated that at the Ministerial caucus on Saturday it was proposed that Sir G. Grey should resign the leadership, and recommend the Governor to send for Mr Macandrew, but the majority were in favor of the Ministry resigning, and allowing Mr Hall to form a Ministry ; after which they should attack him at once with a " no-confidence " motion, it being "alleged that if Sir G. Grey resigned the leadership, the party would be supported by Messrs McOaughan, Masters, Diver, and Pyke. Eventually the matter was left in Sir G. Grey's hands. Sir G. Grey is now with the Governor. It is understood that he will tender his own resignation, but will offer no advice unless pushed by the Governor, when he will recommend Mr Macandrew or Mr Montgomery to bo sent for. The Ministerialists hold another caucus at two this afternoon. The Opposition have held no meeting since the_House>ose. La'er. Ministers hare resigned unconditionally. Nothing further is known. rjpBOM OTJB COBBESPOSDBNT.] At the Ministerial caucus to-day forty-two were present. A strong feeling was expressed that Sir G. Grey should resign, involving in his resignation the whole Ministry. Sir G. Grey has gone to Government House to place his resignation in the hands of the Governor. It is said he will not tender any advice, but, if asked to do so, will advise the Governor to send for Mr Macandrew.
