STICKING UP ON RICCARTON ROAD.

Between ten and eleven last night Mr H. E. May was going home with his wife in a baggy, when he was waylaid and fired at, just above tho Biccarton Hotel, on tho Kiccarton road. Two shots were fired, one of them just grazing Mr May's shoulder. A demand for money was made befoie the shot was fired. Mr May then jumped out of the trap, closed with the highwayman, and knocked him down. At the same time a trap was passing, and Mr May called on the driver to come back to the police station for assistance, which he did. Detective Benjamin returned to the sceno with the driver, and brought the prisoner, whom Mr May had detained meanwhile, to the lock-up.
