THE DRUIDS.

A lodge in connection with the above order wss opened at the Star and Garter Hotel, Barbadoos street, last evening. The lodge was called the Mistletoe. Bro. J. J. Brenan, Q.S., from Melbourne, assisted by the officers and members of the Pioneer Dodge, conducted the ceremony. The initiations being over, Bro. Brenan read to those present the dispensation as granted by the Grand Lodge. The appointment of officers was then proceeded with, resulting in the election of the following :—A.D., Bro. Swinnerton; V.A., Bro. Barrington; Sec., Bro. MoNicol; Treasurer, Bro. 'Barrington, pro tcm., the treasurer to be appointed at the next meeting ; 1.G., Bro. Mason ; 0.G., Bro. Hiscook ; A.D.B.’s, Bros. Bailey and Ryan ; V.A.B.’s, Bros. Wolfe and Morton. Dr. Patrick was appointed lodge surgeon. The appointment of auditors and trustees was deferred until the next meeting, appointed to bo held on October 16th. At the conclusion of the meeting an adjournment was made to an excellent dinner prepared by Mr Toovey, The usual loyal and patriotic toasts having ■been disposed of, the health of Bro. Brenan and lodge members were duly proposed and honored. Bro. Brenan responded in an interesting speech, giving statistics of the order, and in a most flattering manner spoke of the way in which he had been received by the Christchurch Druids. The toast of “ Kindred Societies ” was proposed by Bro. Barrington, and duly honored. Several songs were sung, and other toasts given, and the meeting separated with a hearty vote of thanks to the chairman and three cheers for the host and hostess.
