Under • thfe heading the “New York Herald”.,publishes the fallowing ; “Awake,,,my soul! ”So my soul it awoke, “Take a pet to thyself 1 ” So a pen it then toko. ‘ ‘ Make ,a j poem ! ” \Aad straightway , a ,poem, it moke. “ Andiwrite ■ for the right I 4 ’ For the right it then, rote, “ Let thy thoughts be enlightened ! ” Its thoughts.,were enlote. And my soul, sitting down, soon these versed intJote, Be strong, Omy ibsothers ! There is mil-i lions in strength, Wrong is .short-lived, and right , aye must vanquish at length If, scorning the .wrong, we dc.pthers no wrengti. Sursum corila,'! Whatever is , bad, neight he worse And tho sad, if they’re,upright, shall never grow eucae, And the good ,and tho glad still be; better and glumae. Oh ! how could ‘the ancients have done what they did If their hearts ic philosophy had net been wid, Then how could dihoy ever 'have said what they sid? ’ ,
