Civil Business. —Bennett v Foga-ty, claim £2 7s ; judgment for plaintiff. Same v Thompson, claim £2 2s ; judgment confessed j costs, ss. Same v Dare, claim, £1; judgment confessed j costs, 5». Same v Williams, claim £2 10a; judgment by default; costs, ss. Robinson, v Mitchell, claim ss*for damage to fence by cattle ; defendant ordered to pay Court costs. KAIAPOI CRICKET CLUB. The annual mroting of this club was held at the president’s office on Monday evening. There was a good attendance. Mr J. Lowthian Wilson was voted to the chair. The hon. sec., Mr H. A’Oourt, read the annual report, which stated that the club had commenced with a late season, and had been at a disadvantage for want of a good ground. There were twenty-four members at the commencement, which had been increased to thirty-six. Four matches had been played, of which two were won, one lost, and one unfinished. Ths committee had fixed the annual subscription at 10s for seniors, and 5s for juniors, with a view of inducing a large number to join the club, and trusted that this year there would be a large number of members. The balance sheet showed the receipts to have been £2B 10s fid, the expenditure £2B 6s 3d, the assets of the club £6 14j 3d. On the motion of Mr B. M. Wright, seconded by Mr E. Bate, the report and balance sheet were adopted. On the motion of Mr Pinching, seconded by Mr Bate, Mr J. Lowthian Wilson was unanimously re-elected president. Mr H. A’Oourt was induced to consent to act aa secretary and treasurer forj another year. Messrs Q-. H. Blackwell and C. O. Howard wore elected vice-presidents, Mr E. M. Wright captain, and Mr P. Bate custodian. The members of the managing committee elected were Messrs E. M. Wright, Thorne, Bate, Bernays, Merrin, and Fraser. On the motion of Mr Pinching, seconded by Mr Bernays, it was decided that the committee consider the question of fencing the ground, and report at next general meeting. Six new members were proposed and elected. It was decided that Eule 6 bo amended, limiting the ages of junior members at sixteen years, instead of eighteen, as previously. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers. Mr Wright offered a ball to be won by the best bowler. The president offered a bat, with silver shield, for the player making the best batting average of the season, and Mr Pinching gave a ball to be awarded as the club might decide. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting.
