Information was received that the King was concealed in the Ngome Forest, in the vicinity of the Black Umvolosi River and that he was unable to ride or walk. A body of dragoons surrounded Cetewayo on the 23rd of August, and Cetewayo and his followers surrendered, and were brought to the camp at Ulundi. Those of his followers who attempted to escape were killed. Cetewayo has been sent to Maritzburg, and thence is to go to Cape Town. Peace is regarded as certain. A new Government is immediately to be appointed by Sir Garnet Wolseley, who has gone to the Transvaal. The submission of Secocoeni is probable. Peace is restored to the Northern Transvaal. It is expected that the Boers will acquiesce in tho annexation. Another of Catewayo's brothers has surrendered, with an immense number of cattle and guns.
